  McGarvey, Marie - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Marie McGarvey (nee Rowan). She slipped peacefully and silently into the loving arms of her late husband, Tony McGarvey (1997) on Monday August 14th, 2017 in Belleville in her 78th year. Loving mother to Tony & Elizabeth McGarvey, Angela and Dave McGauley, Breda and Steve Blazevic and John and Renée McGarvey. Beloved by her twelve grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride, Conor, Emma & Rory McGarvey, Errigal, Mac & Rowan McGauley, Sophia, Iliana, Adria & Evangeline Blazevic and Ryan and Jocelyn McGarvey. She will be greatly missed by all her friends, especially her dearest friend and companion Larry Reilly.  Marie was loved by her siblings, Birdie, Helen and J. J. (deceased), and Eamon, Theresa and Kay and their families. She cherished the time she was able to spend with them after her emigration from Ireland in 1967 with her husband and young son, Tony Jr.  Marie celebrated her fiftieth year in Belleville this summer and was proud of the life she and Tony Sr. built for their family in Canada.  The family is forever grateful to all her wonderful friends for all their support and help over the years, especially Margaret, Jane, Beth, Wilma and Maureen.  Friends are invited to call at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery  If desired, Memorial Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
    BURKITT, Harry Francis – of Belleville, Ontario, peacefully at the Q.H.C. Belleville General Hospital on Saturday August 12, 2017 surrounded by his family in his 92nd year. Son of the late Thomas Francis and Laura (Pollard) Burkitt. Beloved husband of 68 years of Margaret Lucy (Green) Burkitt. Loving father of Greg, Alan (Wendy Watkin), Jean (Peter Erglis), Nancy, Betty Jane, Helen (Thi Nguyen), Barbara, Mary Ellen (David Scott), Jennifer Lynn (Steven Buchanan), and Paul (Christina Lloyd). Predeceased by son Stephen Ellis Burkitt, granddaughter Theresa Gendron, brother Hugh Burkitt, sister-in law Joyce (Maxwell) Burkitt and brothers-in-law Eric McComb and Ernest Thompson. Survived by sisters Doreen McComb, Betty Thompson and brother John (Anne Morton) Burkitt. Lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Harry was a long time employee at Bishop Farm Seeds, former race secretary at Quinte Exibition and Raceway, Belleville, Co-owner HF & MLB Stables and Life Member of the Quinte Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 69 G.R.C. Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street W., Belleville (613-968-2273) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at Christ Church Anglican, 39 Everett Street Belleville on Wednesday August 16th, 2017 at 1.00 p.m, with visitation one hour prior to service. Following the service a reception will be held in the church hall. Private family interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Frankford, Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations if desired to Christ Church Building Fund or Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family. 
MURPHY, Regina “Gina” Clare (29 years of honorable service with the Royal Canadian Air Force) ~ entered into rest at QHC-Belleville General Hospital on Sunday evening August 6th, 2017 in her 85th year. Dear daughter of the late Andrew & Ursuline Murphy (nee Pinsent).  Gina will be missed by her sister, Bernice of South Carolina, many nieces and nephews (especially Shawn and Cindy Murphy).  Predeceased by her siblings Raymond and Pauline. Cherished friend of Sherry Whidden of Belleville. Cremation has already taken place.  A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 296 Church Street, Belleville on Thursday August 10th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment Belleville Cemetery.  If desired, donations to St. Michael the Archangel Capital Campaign would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273)

Meeboer, Richard “Rich” - suddenly at Bon Echo Park on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 in his 48th year.  Best friend and beloved husband of Lori Meeboer (nee Martin) of Corbyville. Loving son of Richard and Marion Meeboer of Vineland.  Devoted dad of Natasha Meeboer of St. Catharines, Anthony Meeboer, Abigail Meeboer, Bailey Kimball and Maya Kimball all of Corbyville.  Dear brother of Susie (Wayne) Kikkert of Stevensville, Connie (Steve) Parker of Jordan and John (Sandra) Meeboer of Beamsville.  Son in-law of Linda Martin (the late Harvey) of Corbyville and brother in-law of Lisa (Dave) Brotherton of Sauble Beach.  Rich is remembered as the Canadian Dad of Jenny Noh and Suzanne Lu.  He was blessed to come from an incredible large family and will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Rich was a valued member of the team at Vanderlaan Building Products of Brighton.  As a husband, father, son, brother and friend, Rich gave everything he had to everyone he knew.  Friends are invited to call at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Friday, July 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at the Quinte Alliance Church, 373 Bridge Street West, Belleville on Saturday, July 8th at 1:00 p.m.  Memorial Donations can be made to the Rich Meeboer Memorial Fund online at https://www.gofundme.com/richmeeboer, through the funeral home ( cheques must be made payable to Lori Meeboer) or by visiting Quinte First Credit Union at  293 Sidney Street, Belleville.
