Obituary of Joan Annette Guthrie
Joan passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in her 82nd year. Daughter of the late Sidney and Doris McCauley. Beloved wife of 61 years to John Guthrie of Belleville. Loving mother of John (Susan) of Sydenham, Joe (Lenore) of Calabogie, Jennifer (deceased), Jane (Jay) Lewis of Toronto, Jason (Samantha) and Jim (Gretchen) both of Vancouver Island. Cherished grandmother of Joseph, Jordan, Paul, Taylor, Jesse and Maze and great grandmother of Mary Joan. Joan is survived by her sisters, Jean (Jack) Henninge, Judy Gates both of Woodview and Anne (Scott) Price of Oakville. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Joan was a force of nature involved in the Suzuki School of Music, Pinnacle Play House, and Belleville Parks and Recreation. She was the Federal and Provincial Returning Officer for numerous years, Director of Hospice Quinte, sponsor of Belleville girls minor hockey and baker of the worlds’ best cookies. She enjoyed the company of truly great friends through dinners and Alternative Theatre, and was always happy to take part in many music jam sessions at home. She loved watching her Jays and Leafs, and was an avid skier, golfer and bass player.
The family extend their gratitude to Dr. Levesque and the Oncology Team at QHC-Belleville General.
The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West on Tuesday, June 29, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 399 Victoria Avenue, Belleville on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:30. a.m. Those wishing to attend the visitation and/or the funeral mass are asked to email email@example.com or call 613-968-2273 between 9:00 and 5:00 p.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Youngs Point. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to Hospice Quinte would be much appreciated.
