Obituary of Donald Albert Stickland

After a long and full life, God Promoted Don to glory in his 81st year. Don went peacefully at Belmont Long Term Care Home on Sunday, May 22nd, 2022. Loving husband of 57 years to Sheila. Dear father of Barbara (Stephen), Kathy (Paul), James (Candi), and Jason (Amy). Cherished Grandpa of Sean (Ashley), Lesley (Mark), Nathan, Jonathan (Melissa), Mychal (Jessica), Candice, Adam (Erin), Andrew (Sophia), Emerson, Elliott, and Everett.  Great-grandpa of, Ava, Issac, Vivienne, Aubrey, Kieran, Jude, Ben, Myles, Bowie, and Conor. Dear son of Everett and Mable (predeceased), brother Gerald (predeceased), and brother of Darlene. Don was passionately involved with different ministries within the Salvation Army, where he was a faithful member of the church. He was involved in community policing and the MS Society. His true love in life was loving his wife Sheila and being a Dad and Grandpa! He will be truly missed by all his family!   The family would like to thank the staff of Belmont LTC home that looked after Don, during his last few months, we cannot say enough about the wonderful care he received.  We would also like to send a special shout-out to Al (PSW) who went above and beyond and for being there for Don and his family!


The family has organized A Celebration of Don’s life which will be held at the Salvation Army Community Church, 290 Bridge Street West, Belleville, on Saturday, June 4th, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation prior to service, beginning at 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm. A reception to follow after the funeral.  A private inurnment Elmwood Cemetery. 


The family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, MS Society or the Salvation Army Belleville (youth ministry) in lieu of flowers. 


If you would prefer to send flowers, they would need to be delivered directly to the Salvation Army Community Church.
