GETKATE, Hendrik (June 3, 1937 - November 1, 2019)

Henk Getkate, of Brighton, Ontario, has ended his faith filled journey on earth and he is home with his Lord.
Henk was a devoted husband, father, Opa and brother. He was a student throughout his life. A pastor, sailor, builder, investment and financial planner, philanthropist, Rotarian, friend. He was friend of Jesus and in a number of ways an unusual child of God. He knew God loved him and with that love Henk loved God, his family, friends and others.
Henk is lovingly remembered by Patricia, his wife of 59 years. His “princesses”: Liana (Ken) Vos, Glenda (Walt) Schaly, Patricia (Steven) Eckhoff, Johanna (Bill) Ebbers. His grandchildren: Arend Getkate, Rachael (Scott) Pearson, Adam (Jill) Vos, Tarah Stokes, Samantha Ray, Jacob Schaly, Johanna Schaly, Erica Schaly, Ryan (Whitney) Eckhoff, Nathan Eckhoff, Christopher Ebbers, Emily Ebbers, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family will host visitation on Friday, November 8th, 6-8pm, at Brighton Fellowship Church, 204 Main St., Brighton, Ont. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9th, at 1 pm at Brighton Fellowship Church.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Henk’s lifelong love of learning, if desired, donations may be made to one of the local Christian Schools (Belleville District Christian School, Trenton Christian School, Quinte Christian High School) or to the Brighton Public Library.
