Barry McFadden of Belleville passed at home on February 2, 2021 in his eightieth year. He loved his wife, Phyllis, of 53 years, and cherished their three children Robert (Suzanne), Sheryl (Steve), and Eric (Amie). Barry grew up in North Bay with his seven sisters, Joan, Lois, Ruth, Sandy, Mayda, Lana and Susan. He was a special part of the Storie Family of Powassan, and Barry’s warmest memories of his teen years were of his time spent on the Storie family farm. Barry became part of the Sherwin family when he and Phyllis married, and had caring and close connections to the lives of Phyllis’ brothers, sisters, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
Barry will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Breanna, Angus, Finlay, Fearghas, Greyson and Adelyn, as well as great-grandchildren Sawyer, Paislee, and Kenzie. Barry loved the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing and hunting, as well as quiet times woodcarving in his workshop. His stories and humour will continue to be appreciated by family and friends. The family will share details at a later date of an outdoor gathering in the spring to celebrate Barry’s life.
For Barry, hunting and fishing were part of his heritage, something that he passionately taught his sons and grandsons.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273).
Donations can be made directly through a GoFundMe page in Barry’s name to support education scholarships related to preserving this heritage and related wildlife conservation.
